Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Statements from Adiala Jail:
September 4, 2024

Pakistan’s army belongs to everyone – to the whole nation – not just one political party or the army chief. They robbed the election and are now not allowing the judiciary to function…

Imran Khan’s Stance

Then on the 4th of September 2024, Imran Khan gave a very tough message from behind bars that the Pakistan Army does not belong to any one man or one political party. He criticized the current government and claimed that it aims to destabilize institutions including the police as well as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Most importantly, he stated that the government is interfering with the autonomy of the judiciary branch. The most astonishing part of the statement made by Khan is that the Supreme Court is the only hope for the people of Pakistan today.

Misuse of Police and NAB Against PTI

Khan has been very spoken about how he feels the authority and NAB are being used against him and his political party (PTI).

He recalled an incident of the Commissioner of Rawalpindi, who, he claimed, was punished for telling the truth about the Chief Justice and the Election Commission. Imran Khan also stated that if any further attempts are made to compromise the judiciary, he will not think twice before calling for citizen marches.

Allegations of Rigged Elections

Imran Khan has also expressed his opinion about the recent elections arguing that these elections were invalid.

He said this was because a political party that had been unable to garner at least twenty seats was put in power through deceit. To him, this was done by fixing the elections for corrupt and incompetent people, which he thinks is the threat that the country faces and not external aggression. Imran Khan considers these political moves detrimental to the democracy and institutions of Pakistan.

Election Results and Mohsin Naqvi

Not only is Imran Khan unhappy with the elections, he has accused Mohsin Naqvi, the recently appointed chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), of the pathetic shows by the national cricket team against Bangladesh.

Khan questioned Naqvi’s qualifications and experience for the position, asserting that he was unfit for such a crucial role.

Legal System Preference

Khan has also complained of unfair treatment based on political status within the legal justice system. He alleged that the courts have been rude to his political rivals by delaying cases against them while they were eager to present false cases against him.

This, however, Khan has pointed out as part of a larger plan to prosecute him unfairly. He expressed dissatisfaction with the suspension of funding for Al-Qadir University, a project he considers essential for advancing education among Pakistan’s rural population.

Torture in Prisons

Imran Khan claimed he faced tougher conditions in prison than other leaders who received better treatment.

He indicated that he is isolated from other prisoners, cannot receive visits, and has restricted communication with the outside world. He claims this undermines his freedom, calling it a form of repression faced by influential political figures.

Imran Khan is still in prison, but his message of rebellion ends up powering his supporters. His ability to mobilize large crowds in support of the judiciary shows that he is indeed fully committed to supporting the democratic process in Pakistan. As there are many charges still unresolved, it is difficult to predict both Khan’s and Pakistan’s future, however, the leader continues fighting for his idea of justice.
