SARGODHA – Brilliant and talented schoolgirl Ayesha Mumtaz hailing from Sargodha has achieved something remarkable for her nation, Pakistan. She has won a prestigious bronze medal in the ongoing Asian Junior and School Boxing Championship, currently going on in Al Ain City, United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi.

The delirious amount of talent and enthusiasm that Ayesha Mumtaz possesses, she secured the podium with some well-deserved metal around her neck after a highly impressive display of her skills during the quarterfinal round. She defeated strong competitor Vietnam’s Thi Hong Yen Nguyen to reach the very competitive semis, where she has ensured herself of at least a bronze medal, marking a big milestone and first for Pakistan boxing.

Fighting within the pinweight category picked for contestants up to 46 kg, Ayesha Mumtaz had a superb and powerful combination of technical skills and strategic acumen during all her fights. She threw powerful left hooks with accuracy, complemented by her well-timed attacks that absolutely lorded over her rivals. Of special mention is that this is the second time that a daughter of Pakistan came within range of bagging a medal for this event—i.e. the Asian Boxing Championships. This accomplishment is so important because, as said, it has positioned her as the second female boxer in Pakistan to make the medal qualification. This makes her a shooting star in Pakistan in the world of boxing, with high amplitudes for potential success in the years to come.
